MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTON N, TEXAS
October 16, 1950
The City Counc4 of the City of Baytownp Texas met in special session on
Mondayp October 16, 1950 at 7so'clock in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall
with the following members in attendances

The Mayor called the meeting to order. He stated that the meeting was
called forthe purpose of discussion and action on several ordinances that had baen
given to the Council at previous meetings for study.
Building Ordinances — Fire Marshal Ordinances
The proposed building ordinance was checked. Several major changes were
made and the City Attorney was instructed to regrite the ordinance and present at
the next regular meeting of the Council. The Fire Marshal Ordinance will be consider-
ed at the next meeting also.
Slaughter House Ordinance
Councilman Bergeron moved to adopt an ordinance regulating livestock
slaughter houses and pens within the city limits. Councilman Campbell seconded
the motion. The roll -call vote was as follows:

BAYTOWN, TEXAS; REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREMH;
CONTAINIAG A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PRESCRIBING A PENALTY; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
Milk Ordinance
The City Attorney introduced and read an ordinance making mandatory the grafting
and labeling of milk and certain milk products sold within the city. Councilman
Campbell moved to adopt the ordinance as read. Councilman Pruett seconded the motion.

Raise Fire - Police Department
Councilman Pruett moved to appeove a $10 monthly salary increase for all
Firemen and Policemen: Appropriation for Firemen's raise to be transferred from
the Police Budget. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote
was as follows

Councilman Bergeron's motion for a $25 salary increase for Auditor Gordon
Lewis was declared dead for want of a second after Councilman Buelow protested
the increase.
Amend Load Ordinance
Councilman Buelow moved to adopt the amendment of Load Limit Ordinance to
include Park Street end to end, Morrell Street end to and, Schillinga Street and to
end and Gresham Street end to end. Councilman Pruett seconded the motion. .Thbe
roll call vote was as follows:

CONTAINING A PENALTY CLAUSE; REPEALING ORDINANCE INCONSISTENT THEREWITH;
PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE AND SETTING FORTH THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF,° BEING ORDINANCE NO. $7 PASSED BY THE C17Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN ON THE 9TH DAY OF SEPTIMBER, 1949, BY ADDING TO SECTION 2
THEREOF FOUR (4) ADDITIONAL STREETS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION
AND EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE.

Councilmen Pruett moved to adjourn. Councilman Buelow seconded the motion.
The ayes were unanimous and the Mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
