The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session
on Tuesday Sept. 26,1950, at 700 P.M in the Council room of the Baytown City
Hall with the following members in attendances

The Mayor called the meeting to order and the minutes of the regular
meeting of September 7;. 1950 were read. Councilman Campbell asked that the
minutes be corrected to read, " Attorney Bruce presented a petition �'fram
Clifton Henderson,00lored, who asked for $2,500.00 punitive damages, plus two
weeks loss of work and that this income wouldnot have been less than X665.00 per
week and would have ranged upward to �75.00per week, a loss in salary of N140.00
Doctor bills and Hospital cost in the amount of $21.00. Also change the minutes
to read, councilman Campbell question the advisability of suspending the two(2)
indited policeman until tried by a court of law, instead of Grand Jury trial.
With these corrections the minutes were appro�,ed. whereupon the following
business was transacteds

A committee composed of councilman Campbell) Pruett and Bergeron gave a
report of the conditions found on Hafer Street and stated that at the present
time nothing could be done to alleviate the existing cc-dition.

Mr. A.V. Barber, Tax Assessor — Collector gave a peport on the compiled
final figures onthe Tax Equalization Board fort he year 1950. The board was
composed of: C': H. Muller, chairman, E.S. Cathriner and H.E. Brunson. After
much discussion councilman Campbell moved that the report be approved and
adopted as read. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote
was as followsr

City Tanager liiddletcn introduced and read Ordinance No. 87, adopting a
budget for the ensuing fiscal year. After reading the budget, City +tanager
Middleton asked if anyone present wanted to question the budget, no questions
being sked, Councilman Campbell mo ad that the ordinance beaiopted as read.

City Manager Middleton introduced and read Ordinance No. 88 levying a Tax

H.S. Berlin, asked the council to changgee the resolutions approved at the Sept. 7,
meting., to three ordinances authorising the mayor to sign the said ordinances in
lieu of the City Manager. City Attorney Chandler read the three ordinances.

L Mr. M.D. Kennedy, representing the developers of Hill Terrace subdivision
asked the council that tentative approval be given on half of what had already been
approved as section Two, call it section Two and section Three, and not develope one
Street. 1AZ; engineering, grading, and fire plugs to be the same as on the original
Plat. Councilman Pruett moved to approve the change. Councilman Bergeron seconded

EXTENSION OF STERLING STREET
Councilman Buelow moved to extend Sterling Street ditch at the present time to
the south side of Defee Street in order to el{minats the added expense of tearing into
the Street at a later date. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll can vote

Attorney C.D. Little, representing the Red Top and Safeway Cab Companies, asked
that the Taxicab ordinance be tabeled until the councilman as well si the Taxicab
Companies had familiarized themselves witbihe ordinance. Councilman ReeBeemoved
that the ordinance be tabeled until Monday night October 2, 19509 at 7: oo P:M.

Attorney Robert Gillett, complained to hhe council in reference to dogs
running at large during the recent mad dog scare. Mayor Ward ask City Attorney
Chandler to draw up an ordinance prohibiting any dog tagged or otherwise, running
at large for at least 45 days in the City limits. City Attorney Chandler immediately
drew up the ordinance, introduced and read same. Councilman Berge on moved to adopt
the ordinance as read. Councilman Campbell seconded the motion. The roll all vote was
