1950 07 06 CC Minutes272 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS July 6, 19540 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on Thure- day, July 6, 1950 at 1:30 p. m, in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: J. A. Ward Mayor Rufus Bergeron Councilman Milton L. Campbell Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman W. D. Reeves Councilman W. C. Williams Councilman C. Darnin Middleton City Manager George Chandler City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk Absent: E. W. Buelow Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order, and the minutes of the regular meeting of June 15, 1950 and the special meeting of June 20, 1950 were read. Councilman Campbell asked that the minutes of the regular meeting relative to. consulting engineers be corrected to read thus: "After hearing, both proposals Councilman Campbell moved to designate J. J. Rqdy as Consulting Engineer for the City of Baytown.° With this correction the minutes were approved and the following business was transacted: Street Lignting Contract The Street Lighting Contract was presented for passage. Councilman Reeves moved to let the City Attorney check codtraoV and if:it is agreeable according to law, an ordinance of acceptance be prepared to present atthe next regular meeting of the coun- cil . Councilman Campbell seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Reyes None Councilman Bergeroo Campbell e Pruett Reeves Williams Oil Drilling Permits Councilman Campbell moved to approve the permit application of the Production Service Oil Corporation on the George H. Bradford Lease. Councilman Reeves seconded the motion. L. Staner Lease. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. Rhodes Lease. Councilman Reeves seconded the motion. Airhart Lease; cancelled Permit No. 11 on same lease. Councilman Camp- bell seconded the motion. No second made and motion declared dead. Councilman Bergeron moved to purchase the alternate Inter- national TD-14A with dozer for $ 9,943.00. Councilman Reeves seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Calls Ayes: Mayor Ward Nayss None Councilman Bergerdn of Campbell Pruett " Reeves a Williams Lawndell Section 1 - Ehrhardt W. E. Ehrhardt presented Section 1 of Lawndell Addition for final approval. Councilman Bergeron moved to give final approval. Councilman Reeves seconded the mo- tion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Calls Ayes: Mayor Ward Nayss None Councilman Bergeron Campbell '! Pruett a Reeves a Williams Milbydale Section 5,- F. A. Richardson F. A. Richardson presented Milbydale No. 5 for final approval. He stated that all improvements made were according to the city's specifications and had been checked by the Acting City Engineer and Superintendent of Public Works. Supt. Grantham verified the statement. Councilman Reeves moved to turn the plat over to H. S. Berlin of the J. J. Rady Engineering firm for final check before final approval be given. Councilman BErgeron seconded the motion. Councilman Pruett objected to this motion and second as he said that it would be impossible for Mr. Berlin to check all under- ground water and sewer mains that had been laid. He would have to take the recommenda- tion of the Superintendent of Public Works and this had already been given. After considerable discussion Councilman Reeves and Bergeron asked that the motion and second be withdrawn, afterwhieh, Councilman Campbell moved to give final approval of Milbydale No. 5• Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion.
