1950 05 04 CC Minutes255 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS May 4, 1950 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on Thurs- day, May 4, 1950 at 7330 p. m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendances J. A. Ward Mayor R. H. Bergeron Councilman E. W. Baelow Councilman H. I. Davis Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman J. A. Stroud Councilman W. C. Williams Councilman C. Darwin Middleton City Manager David Donoghue City-Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk The Mayor called the meeting to order, and the minutes of the regular meeting of April 20, 1950 and the special meeting of April 20, 1950 were read and approved, whereupon the following business was transacted: Request for Street Light A letter was presented from W. D. Hinson, Principal of the Horace Mann School, requesting a street light at the corner of Denby and Massey Streets. Councilman Pruett moved to authorize the installation of the street light. Councilman Williams seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Calls Ayess Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilmen Bergeron .. " Baelow It Davis " Pruett It Stroud " Williams Robert E. Lee Drive Negotiations The Council instructed. the City Manager to negotiate with the County on plans to change the proposed route of the Robert E. Lee Drive and leave the city's material yard intact. Ask Hearing with Auditor The Council instructed the City Manager to notify City Auilitor T. B. Trotter to appear before the body on Wednesday, May 10, 1950 for the purpose of clarifying certain statements contained in the annual audit. Trifon Property Condemnation Approved Councilman Pruett moved to authorize the City Manager to proceed immediately with condemnation proceedings on property owned by Mrs. Bessie Trifon if the County delayed action in the matter. The condenmed property contains a natural drainage ditch which will be cleaned out and widened to eliminate flood conditions during heavy rains. Councilman Buelew seconded the motion. Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron " Bueloss " Davis Pruett " Stroud " Williams 256 May 4, 1950 Name Change Wynnewood The Council approved the application of the developers of hynnewood Addition to change the name of the section now under. development. The name willobe sub- mitted to the Council for approval after a selection had been made. Councilman Bergeron moved to approve the request. Councilman Davis seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Calls Ayess Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron s Buelow Davie ^' Pruett e Stroud it Williams Box Culvert Approved Councilman Pruett moved to approve the installation of a box culvert on 4th street in Wynnewood Addition. Councilman Davis seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Rays: None Councilman Bergeron " Buelow Davis It, Pruett it Stroud Williams Miscellaneous Reports The City Manager reported that the dragline would be delivered about the middle of May. The fogging machine will be shipped Friday ar Saturday, May 5th or 6th. Councilman Bergeron moved to adjourn. Councilman Pruett seconded the motion.
