1950 04 20 CC Minutes252 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEJW April 20, 1950 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in regular session on Thurs- day, April 20, 1950 in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the- follow- ing members in attendances J. A. Ward Mayor R. B. Bergeron Councilman E. W. Buelow Councilman w H. I. Davis Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman W. C. Williams Councilman C. Darwin Middleton City Manager David-Donoghue City Attorney Edna Oliver City Clerk Absents J. A. Stroud Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order, and the minutes of the regular meeting of April 6, 1950 and the special meeting of April 12, 1950 were read and approved, whereupon the following business was transacted: Oath Administered to Councilman Buelow City Attorney Donoghue administered the oath of office to Councilman E. W. Buelow for the two ensuing years as elected Councilman from District No. 1. Fogging Machine Bids Opened The fogging machine bids were opened and they are tabulated as follows: 1. Air -O -Blind - Model A -120 Trailer - Bes -Kil Aerosol Generator with freight included $1,810.00 Air -O -Blind - Bed -Kil Aerosol Generator - Model A -40 with freight included 1,705.00 Air0 -Blind - Bea -Kil Aerosol Generator - Model 4-120 slightly used 1,6%.00 2. Martin -Smith Company - Buffalo Turbine Sprayer - Duster Mist type spraying machine 1,399.95 Martin -Smith Company - Thermal Aeromal Generator - Todd Dry type fog generator 1,695.00 3. Abash Insect Control Service - Dyna -Fog Generator 1,185.00 After a lenthy discussion between the councilmembers and the representatives of the various fogging machines, it was decided to table the bids and ask for a demonstration of each machine on Tuesday, April 25th at 5sosclock p. m.. Water Line Bids The waterline bids were opened and they are tabulated as follows 1. Niles Construction Company, Inc. $18,704.90 2. J. H. Britt Construction Company 21,564.50 The City Manager presented an estimate of $13,589.28 on the cost of the installation of the waterline by the city. This estimate was prepared by:the Acting City Engineer, J. B. Nelson. After close comparison Councilman Williama moved to have the city use its labor and equipment and lay the 11,326 linear feet of 81 waterline at a savings of approximately $5,000. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. Saunders - Milbydale Section No. 5 Mr. John W. Saunders, Engineer representing F. A. Richardson, developer, sented a map of Milbydale Section No. 5 for tentative approval by the Council. developer agreed to comply with the regulations as specified in the city's sub- division ordinance. Councilman Pruett moved to give tentative approval of the division. Councilman Williams seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron Buelow a Pruett Williams Harold McFarland -R. A. Ellis - Central Baptist Church Proposed. Building 252 Pre- The sub - follows: Messrs. McFarland and Ellis asked permission from the Council to build a cover- ing across the alley which will connect the present church building with the proposed Educational Building which is to be erected in the near future. This covering will serve as a protection against the weather. Councilman Pruett moved to approve a standard fourteen (14) foot clearance. Councilman Buelow seconded the motion. Williams Oil and Gas Well Permits Approved The City Manager presented two (2) drilling permits for the Council's approval. Both had been inspected and approved by the Fire Marshal and Fire Chief. Council- man Pruett moved to approve the permit applications of Production Service 011 Corpo- ration on Tavary Well No. 1 and J. D. Reed Co., Inc., on V. M. Duke, Well No. 5. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Call: Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron e Buelow Pruett '! Williams Councilman Pruett moved to.adjourn.
