1950 03 30 CC Minutes, Special.MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. March 30, 1950 The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas met in special session on Thursday, March 30, 1950 at 7230 P. m. in the Council Room of the Baytown City Hall with the following members in attendance: J. A. Ward Mayor Rufus Bergeron Councilman H. I. Davis Councilman Baby Godfrey Councilman W. C. Williams Councilmen C. Darwin Middleton . City Manager David Donoghue City At torney Edna Oliver City Clerk Absents J. A. Stroud Councilman R. H. Pruett Councilman The Mayor called the meeting to order. He stated that the meeting was called by the City Clerk at his request. C. Q. Alexander - Bus Route Change Mr, C. Q, Alexander, representing the Tunnel Transit Company, Inc., asked the Council for a revision of the city bus schedule to increase tervice where demanded and to eliminate certain routes that are not being used. The Crosstown- East Side line would be maintained on a 20 minute schedule, leacing the central location at Culpepper'sj Texas to Fourth; Fourth to Fayle, FByle to Fifth, Fifth to Ruth, Ruth to Seventh, Seventh to E, Humble, &. Humble to Fifth, Fifth to Texas, Texas through town to Market, Market to Humble Refinery or Baytown Jr. Hi School and return, ' eliminating Wisconsin Street. The Crosstown - Morrell Park -Pelly and Oak Addition bus would be maintained on a 30 minute schedule beginning an Texas at Culpepper's, W. Texas to No Main, N. Main to MVrrell Street, Morrell to.N. Pruett, eliminating Jones Street, N. Pruett to W. Defee, W. Defee to Commerce, Commerce to W. Texas, W. Texas to S, Pruett, S, Pruett to W. Main, W. Main to Elm Street, Elm to Oak in Colored Section, eliminating Nazro, Oak Street to Market Street, Market to Refinery or Baytown Jr. Hi School, eliminating Wynnewood Addition. Councilman Godfrey moved to adopt the bus schedule changes as outlined. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Calls Ayes: Mayor Ward Nays: None Councilman Bergeron ^ Davis ^ Godfrey Williams Waterline Crossing Approved - Easement The City Manager presented an Easement Agreement on an eight inch (bw) waterline crossing between the City of Baytown and the Southern Pacific Lines. Councilman Williams moved to approve the easement as read. Councilman Davis second- ed the motion. The roll call vote was as follows: Roll Calls Ayes: Mayor Ward Nayss None Councilman Bergeron " Davis fl Godfrey " Williams Renumbering - Market Street Councilman Godfrey moved to approve the renaming and renumbering of Market Street to begin at the intersection of Wisconsin and Market with number 100 and the street to be known as North Market to the city limit line. Councilman Bergeron seconded the motion. Berlin, Consulting Engineer, offered to furnish the city with blueprints fA' tracings of waterwork improvements, storm sewer, and sewage treatment projects from former Water District No. 7 and a sewer line project from former Water District No. 2 without cost to the city. These plans had been paid for by loan advanced to Water Districts and Cities desiring to partidipate in the Post War Planning Projects; the loans to be returned to the government if and when funds were made available to proceed with the proposed projects. The Districts had been furnished with four (4) copies at the time the surveys were made but all had been misp3.aced or lost during the time of consolidation. The Council thanked Mr. Berlin for his offer and expressed a desire for prints of each project at the earliest possible date. Adjournment Councilman Bergeron moved to adjourn.
