a change had to be made later in plans and it is now necessary to extend the line.
It was agreed that the city would saddle the outfall line and connect the 6 -inch
sewer line directly into the 18 -inch outfall line, thus eliminating a manhole.
Ordinance No. 10•-- Natural Gas
Harry Massey, representing the Houston Natural Gas Corporations presented
an ordinance to be read on a thirty -rear franchise.to be made with the City of
Baytown. This being an urgent need, City Attorney Ward read the ordinance.
Councilman Williams moved that the ordinance be passed on its first read-
ing. Councilman Dorris seconded the motion. The vote was as fonouss

A TEXAS CORPORATION HAVING ITS DOMICILE AT HOUSTON,
TEXAS, ITS SUCGESSORS, LESSEES AND ASSIGNS, HEREIld�
AFTER CALIED GRANTEE, RIGHT OF WAY, PRIVILEGE AND
EASEMT TO LAY, CONSTRUCT, EQUIP, USE, OPERATE AND
MAINTAIN GAS MAINS, PIPES, AND CONNECTIONS ALONG, ACROSS
.40 THROUGH THE STTREETS, AVENUES, ALLEYS, ROADS, HIGH -
WAYS AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES AND GROUNDS OF SAID CITY

Resolution on Paving
City Attorney Ward presented and read the following resolutions
"A RESOLUTION DECIARING THE MATURITY OF CERTAIN
CERTIFICATES OF SPECIAL ASSESSUM FOR THE PAVING
OF CERTAIN STREETS IN THE PELLY SECTION OF THE
CITY OF BAYTOS9N AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY
TO INSTITUTE SUIT FOR THE COLLECTION THEREOF.
"WHEREAS, by virtme of an ordinance of the city commission of the city of
Pelly, Texas, duly enacted on the 16th day of July, 1946s certain special
assessments were levied against property situated in said city for the purpose
of paving and improving certain streets in said city, and
10S, pursuant to said ordinance and the proceedings had in connection
therewith, the city commission of said city did, by resolution dated the 10th
day of December, 1946, accept said improvements and authorized the issuance of
certain paving certificates.evidencing said assessments, and
"WHEREAS, sW paving certificates have been transferred and assigned to
and are now the property of the city of Baytown and in a number of instances
the owners of the property covered by said certificates have failed and neg-
lectod to pay the first installment due and payable upon said certificates on j
the date said first installment was due, to-wits January 100 1947, and such
installment continues and remains unpaid on the particular certificates here-
inafter listed, notwithstanding that notice and demand for payment has been
made upon each respective owner of the property involved, and
"WHEREAS, it is the desire of the city council to mature and declare due
and payable the entire amount of each such certificate upon which no, payments
have been made and to instruct and authorize the city attorney to institute
suit for the collection of the entire amount of each such certificate; '

"Section 3. THAT any person guilty of violating any provision of this
ordinance shall be find not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00).
"Section 4. THAT this ordinance shall take effect upon and after the
passage of ten days from date hereof. The city clerk is hereby d. bet to
give notice hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in
the official newspaper in the city of Baytown at least twice within ten days
from and after the date hereof.

Request for Zoning
Lowell lammers again urged the council to act on zoning the area between
Baytown and Goose Creek Sections on Market Street and on the old Baytown—Paelly
road to eliminate shacks or otherwise undesirable buildings. It was agreed
that action would betaken soon.
Councilman Williams' motion to adjourn was seconded by Councilman
Strickland. The ayes were unanimous, and Mayor Cleveland declared the
meeting was adjourned.
