BAWA Resolution No. 2009-04 RESOLUTION NO.2009-04 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BAYTOWN AREA WATER AUTHORITY HONORING ROBERT L.GILLETTE POSTHUMOUSLY FOR HIS THIRTY-SIX YEARS OF EXCELLENT LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE AS A DIRECTOR OF THE BAYTOWN AREA WATER AUTHORITY,AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE TI-IEREOF. WHEREAS,with the passing of Mr.Robert L.Gillette,the Baytown Area Water Authority and the entire Baytown community has lost a highly respected attorney.an active community leader and a citizen devoted to the betterment of the community;and WHEREAS,Mr.Robert L.Gillette faithfully served as a Director on the Board of the Baytown Area Water Authority ("BAWA")from August 23.1973 until his death on May 8,2009:and WHEREAS.during Mr.Gillette's thirty-six(36)years of dedicated service to the customers of the BAWA..he served the BAVI'A Board as President for 30 years,as Vice President for four(4)years and as Secretary for two(2)years;and WHEREAS.throughout his service.Mr.Gillette has supported BAWA and its staff in all facets ofBAWA's operations. including negotiating a revised water contract with the City of Houston for the purchase of raw water,saving BAWA and the City of Baytown thousands of dollars and ensuring a water supply for future generations:and WHEREAS.Mr.Gillette was also fully supportive of BAWA in all of its endeavors.enabling it to be recognized by the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission in its Texas Optimization Program.which commends surface water treatment plants meeting very stringent water quality goals:and WHEREAS,the Board of Directors of the BAWA desires to honor Mr.Gillette posthumously for his accomplishments and his years of service to BAWA and the community:NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BAYTOWN AREA WATER AUTHORITY: Section 1:That the Board of Directors of the Baytown Area Water Authority mourn the death of its esteemed colleague and long-time Board Member and offer its condolences to his family. Section 2:That the Board of Directors of the Baytown Area Water Authority hereby honors Mr.Robert L.Gillette posthumously for his thirty-six years of selfless service to BAWA and for his example of leadership through his interaction with the City Council of the City of Baytown.BAWA employees,and citizens within the BAWA service area. Section 3:This resolution shall take effect immediately from and atler its passage by the Board of Directors of the Baytown Area Water Authority.
