Box 424 Baytown, Texas 77522-0424 (281) 420-6550 • (281) 420-7176 Fax DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER City Council WHEREAS, the impending severe winter weather, including prolonged freezing Laura Alvarado temperatures, sleet and snow, poses a threat of imminent disaster to persons and property District 1 throughout the City of Baytown; and WHEREAS, the imminent threat of such severe weather requires the City to take Chris Presley immediate action to save lives, prevent injuries, protect property, preserve public health, and District 2 provide public safety; and Charles Johnson WHEREAS, the Mayor of Baytown has determined that a declaration of local disaster is District 3 appropriate in order to facilitate the City's protection of persons and property and to expedite the deployment of local state and federal resources to provide necessary assistance in the City's emergency response and recovery efforts; NOW THEREFORE, Heather Betancourth District 4 BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Jacob Powell 1. That a local state of disaster is hereby declared for the City of Baytown, Texas, pursuant District 5 to §418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code. 2. Pursuant to §418.018(b) of the Texas Government Code, the state of disaster shall Mike Lester continue for a period of not more than seven (7) days from the date of this declaration District 6 unless continued or renewed by the City Council of the City of Baytown. City Manager 3. Pursuant to §418.018(c) of the Texas Government Code, this declaration of a local state of Rick L. Davis disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the City Clerk. 4. Pursuant to §418.018(d) of the Texas Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster activates the City Emergency Management Plan. 5. That this proclamation shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance.
