CC Resolution No. 2691RESOLUTION NO. 21691 A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, REQUESTING THE MEMBERS OF THE 87Tii LEGISLATIVE SESSION OF THE STATE OF TEXAS TO SUPPORT LEGISLATION THAT PROVIDES STEWARDSHIP, HEALTH AND WELL-BEING, AND CONNECTIVITY FOR LOCAL AND STATE PARKS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the Texas collliluirlities, counties, and State protect and enhance the investments in all parks and open spaces through stewardship of natural resources; and WHEREAS, the Baytown Parks and Recreation Board and the City Council Of the City of Baytown desire that the 87" Legislature pass legislation that supports the followillg: 1. the conservation, preservation of water and other natural resources and the right to access nature, the outdoors and recreational amenities; 2. the conservation of open space and making public lands accessible for public use by supportithy the sporting goods sales tax and the land and water conservation fiend; 3. water and natural resources through conservation, presentation and the rights to access nature, the outdoors and recreational anicilitics; 4. increased physical activity and improving health and wellness by utilizing parks and recreation amenities and services; >. the creation of a livable, safe, and responsible community by SuppOrting sate recreational amenities, pathways and trails; and 6. the positive economic impacts of connecting Our communities to nature and the outdoors from the Parks and Recreation Industry; and WHEREAS, political subdivisions throughout the State of Texas depend on funding for services and prograins that ensure access for all people to connect to nature and the outdoors; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parks and Recreation Board and the City Council of the City Of Baytown that a copy of this resolution with appropriate ilarnes affixed be presented to the Governor of Texas and the leadership of the 87`i' Texas Legislature; NOW "ITIEREFORE, BE I1' RESOLVED BY THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, Section 1: That the Parks and Recreation Board of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the City Council of the City of Baytown respectfully request that the members of the 87"' Legislature of Texas support of legislation that provides for the stewardship, health and well-being, and connectivity for local and state parks. Section 2: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Governor of Texas. Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by both the Parks and Recreation Board of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
