Ordinance No. 12,326ORDINANCE NO, 12,326 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND ENTER INTO A JOINT ELECTION AGREEMENT WITH HARRIS COUNTY FOR THE SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 5"' DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2013, UNDER TERMS AND CONDITIONS ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY MANAGER AND ]'HE CITY ATTORNEY; AUTHORIZING PAYMENT THEREFOR IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY THOUSAND AND NO/I 00 DOLLARS ($30,000.00); AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF, WHEREAS, tile City of Baytown is holding its special election oil November 5, 2013, for the purpose of electing councilmembers for Council Districts one owrwo (2) and Three (3) of tile City of Baytown; and WHEREAS, Harris County (the "County") is holding an election oil the sarne uniform election date; and WHEREAS, the City and the County desire to hold joint elections in the election precincts that can be served by common polling places; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 27 1.002 of theTexas Election Code, the terms of the joint election include the City agreeing to pay a portion of tile County's election costs in exchange for the County: providing the voting equipment and supplies for early voting by personal appearance and mail and for election day; providing. election workers; setting tip the polling places; serving as the Early Voting Ballot Board; programming and operating the automatic tabulating equipment; and establishing and organizing the Central Counting Station; NOW T HEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFBAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of-the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby authorizes the City Mana0er to negotiate and enter into ajoint election agreement with Harris County For the special election to be held on the F, day ol'Novernber, 2013, Linder terins and conditions acceptable to the City Manager and the City Attorney. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, 'I"exas, authorizes payment to Harris County In an amount not to exceed THIRTY THOUSAND AND NO/] 00 DOLLARS ($30,000.00), pursuant to the agreement identified in Section I hereof.
