CC Resolution No. 11212015 RESOLUTION NO. 1121 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO REDISTRICTING PLANS THAT WILL PLACE THE CITY OF BAYTOWN IN TWO SEPARATE COUNTY PRECINCTS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, pursuant to the 1990 census, Harris County precinct lines, as they affect the City of Baytown, are subject to redistricting; and WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has been situated in Harris County Precinct Number 2 and served by the same County Commissioner for over 13 years; and WHEREAS, over the years the City of Baytown has successfully planned, developed and coordinated numerous joint projects with the Commissioner and his department heads; and WHEREAS, placing the City of Baytown within two County precincts would multiply the number of individuals required to plan, develop and coordinate joint projects; and WHEREAS, a number of County facilities have been constructed to take advantage of centralized locations within the various precincts over the past ten to twenty years, which redistricting, without consideration to these existing facilities, may cost substantial sums to relocate or transfer; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown opposes any redistricting plans that will place the City of Baytown in two separate county precincts. Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown. 2016 INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 27th day of June, 1991.
