CC Resolution No. 1111 2001 RESOLUTION NO. 1111 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, SUPPORTING LEGISLATION TO CREATE A METROPOLITAN TRANSIT AUTHORITY FOR THE CITY OF BAYTOWN. WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 1139 has been proposed in the Texas Legislature supporting the creation of a Metropolitan Transit Authority within the City of Baytown; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 1139 provides the option of creating a Metropolitan Transit Authority to the citizens of Baytown through a public vote; and WHEREAS, a mass transit system would provide low cost transit needs for the elderly, low income, handicapped, as well as all citizens; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 1139 is structured in a manner to secure local control of the mass transit operation; and WHEREAS, local control will result in a more efficient cost- effective method of operation. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1 : That the City Council of the City of Baytown supports the legislation to create a Metropolitan Transit Authority for the City of Baytown. Section 2 : This Resolution shall become effective from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
