CC Resolution No. 10891941 RESOLUTION NO. 1089 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE AREA AGENCY ON AGING TO FUND TAXI SERVICE TO SENIOR CITIZENS AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to request the City of Houston Office on Aging to offer funding for the Baytown Senior Citizen Taxi Program to the City of Baytown, Texas. City Council hereby authorizes participation in the program and states it will comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies of this program. Section 2: That the City Council authorizes redefinition of the eligibility requirements for the Baytown Senior Citizen Taxi Programs to eliminate a mandatory income guideline. Any resident of the City, aged sixty or older, upon application, will be eligible to participate and receive eight taxi rides each month for which the City will pay half of the fare. This redefinition will become applicable only to the extent that funds offered by the City of Houston Office on Aging will offset the additional costs. Section 3: That the City Council authorizes a Supplemental Taxi Program, applicable to participants of the Baytown Senior Citizen Taxi Program who provide income information which shows they are "low income" as defined by Federal Guidelines and the City of Houston Office on Aging. The Supplemental Taxi Program will pay the remaining half -fare for taxi rides for those residents who qualify. Section 4: That Section 1 of this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown. Section 5: That Sections 2 and 3 shall take effect upon receipt of a duly authorized contract with the City of Houston Office on Aging which will award to the City of Baytown the requested funding.
