CC Resolution No. 1085 1936 RESOLUTION NO. 1085 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, REQUESTING THE COMMISSION OF THE PORT OF HOUSTON AUTHORITY TO SPONSOR THE DEEPENING AND STRAIGHTENING OF CEDAR BAYOU IN THE BAYTOWN AREA. WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is bounded by a navigable body of water known as Cedar Bayou which is too shallow in many places and has some sharp turns which hinder economical navigation by tugs and barges; and WHEREAS, the deepening and straightening of Cedar Bayou would be of great economic benefit to the City of Baytown as well as to the citizens of east Harris County and west Chambers County; and WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has made a preliminary study of deepening and straightening Cedar Bayou, but to complete its study has required a sponsor for the project; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS : Section 1 : That the Commission of the Port of Houston Authority is respectfully requested to sponsor the deepening and straightening of Cedar Bayou and to take necessary affirmative steps to further the study and commitment by the Corps of Engineers to accomplish such work. Section 2 : This Resolution shall become effective from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
