CC Resolution No. 1063 1898 RESOLUTION NO. 1063 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, CONFIRMING THE DECLARATION BY THE ASSISTANT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND PREPAREDNESS DIRECTOR AND THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND PREPAREDNESS COORDINATOR OF THE EXISTENCE OF AN EMERGENCY ON THE 26TH DAY OF JUNE, 1989. WHEREAS, on June 26, 1989, Tropical Storm Allison approached the Baytown area; and WHEREAS, the Baytown area received heavy rainfall producing substantial damage and was threatened with significant risk of flooding; and WHEREAS, as a result of the aforementioned threat of flooding, it was necessary to block many streets and prepare for the evacuation of low lying areas; and WHEREAS, as a further result of the aforementioned threat of flooding, and of the possible evacuation, and attendant security problems, the assistant Emergency Management and Preparedness Director and the Emergency Management and preparedness Coordinator deemed it advisable to declare an emergency without delay; and WHEREAS, City Council is of the opinion that an emergency did, in fact exist; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1 : That the City Council hereby confirms action taken by the Assistant Emergency Management and Preparedness Director and the Emergency Management and Preparedness Coordinator in declaring the existence of an emergency on the 26th day of June, 1989. Section 2 : This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
