RESOLUTION NO. 1006
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS ESTABLISHING PROJECTS AND PRIORITIES FOR THE
PRIMARY ARTERIAL STREET SYSTEM AND FEDERAL AID URBAN
STREET SYSTEM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Primary Arterial Street System was created to
establish a higher-ordered network on the Urban Street System;
and,
WHEREAS, projects for the Primary Arterial Street System and
the Federal Aid Urban Street System are selected by the Federal
Aid Urban System Task Force, which is composed of representatives
from local agencies that are familiar with the transportation
needs of the local community; and
WHEREAS, one objective of these programs is to improve
mobility by selecting projects to create a system that connects
and relieves the freeways within an area and which are located in
or adjacent to a high-traffic corridor ; and
WHEREAS, another objective is to provide alternative traffic
routes for high-traffic corridors; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation has requested that the City of Baytown designate
streets to be considered under these programs, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1 : That Bayway Drive, in the City of Baytown, is
hereby designated for placement on the Primary Arterial Street
System, and it is requested that it be improved under this
program.
Section 2 : That the City of Baytown hereby designates and
requests that Bayway Drive be considered as the No. 1 priority
project and Massey Tompkins Road be considered as No. 2 priority
project under the Federal Aid Urban Street System.
Section 3 : That the Director of Planning and Traffic is
hereby authorized and directed to have copies of this resolution
delivered to the appropriate officials for their consideration.
Section 4 : This resolution shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
