CC Resolution No. 9921768 RESOLUTION NO. 992 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR THE 1987 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, the 1987 Community Development Block Grant Funds are sources of federal revenue that are made available to local Community Development Programs for use in reconstructing streets and drainage facilities, for the rehabilitation of owner occupied homes and for certain other programs; and WHEREAS, the Baytown Community Development Program is eligible for such funds and desires to apply for a grant; and WHEREAS, the Community Development Advisory Committee has made a recommendation as to the amounts and types of funds for which the local program should apply, such recommendation being attached as Exhibit "A" and being made a part hereof for all intents and purposes; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the Community Development Program is hereby authorized to apply to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for 1987 Community Development Block Grant Funds as described in Exhibit "A." Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown. STRONG, Cjrf Attorney C:1:26:8 Proposed 1987 Community Development Block Grant Activities The Community Development Advisory Committee met on July 14, 1987 to make their final recommendation concerning activities to be undertaken with 1987 Community Development Block Grant Funds. Listed below is the budget which got approval at the July 14, 1987 meeting. Activity Fundin¢ Level Rehabilitation of Structures $190,623.00 Economic Development 50,000.00 Social Services/Transportation 91 377.00 *Street Improvements 220,000.00 Program Administration 114,000.00 Unexpended funds from 1979, 1982, 1983 and 1984 budgets to be reprogrammed into 1987 rehabilitation of structures $9,376.93 Additional Funds: The City of Baytown will receive a portion of the $2.6 million which was taken from the City of Houston. At this time it is not known how much or when these funds will be available, but it is possible to designate these funds now for a particular activity. The Community Development Advisory Committee has decided to wait until these funds are available and a definite amount of money is nown before designting any activity for these funds. *Street Improvements: This will be for the reconstruction of Elm St. This will include storm sewers, curbs, gutters and sidewalks. Ash and Will have already been completed and Oak St. is under construction now. After the approval of Elm it will leave only Yupon, Miriam and Nazro to be completed in this neighborhood. EXH011 A
