CC Resolution No. 9911767
RESOLUTION NO. 991
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, OPPOSING A REGIONAL REINTEGRATION CENTER BEING
LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN.
WHEREAS, a private corporation is proposing to locate a
Regional Reintegration Center within the City of Baytown; and
WHEREAS, such center will be used to house inmates of the
Texas Department of Corrections and prepare them for possible
parole, which will include travel outside the constraints of the
proposed center; and
WHEREAS, due to the common perception of the public
concerning such centers, having a reintegration center within the
City may discourage individuals and businesses from moving to the
Baytown area, thus hindering the efforts of the City of Baytown
to make itself an attractive place for private citizens and
businesses to relocate; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City of Baytown hereby opposes having a
Regional Reintegration Center located within the City of Baytown,
Texas.
Section 2: The administration is hereby directed and
authorized to have copies of this resolution delivered to the
Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles and such other individuals or
groups that the administration may deem appropriate or necessary
to be made aware of the City of Baytown's concerns regarding a
Regional Reintegration Center within the City of Baytown.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
