RESOLUTION NO. 964
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE EFFORTS OF BERNARD
C. OLIVE FOR HIS DILIGENT EFFORTS ON THE SAVE THE
BATTLESHIP TEXAS PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Bernard C. Olive, Captain with the Baytown Fire
Department, has spent many hours of his free time in labor aboard
the U. S.S. Texas;
WHEREAS, the efforts of Bernard C. Olive have contributed
greatly to the restoration of the Battleship Texas, which had
fallen into a dismal state of disrepair ;
WHEREAS, the efforts of Bernard C. Olive resulted in a
memorial service aboard the Battleship Texas commemorating the
Japanese attack on and devastation of the American fleet at Pearl
Harbor ; and
WHEREAS, the devotion of Captain Bernard C. Olive is
deserving of recognition and has brought honor to the City of
Baytown; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS :
Section 1 : The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas,
recognizes and commends Captain Bernard C. Olive for his diligent
work in restoration of the Battleship Texas.
Section 2 : This resolution shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 8th day of January,
1987.
