RESOLUTION NO. 958
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
ENDORSING JOINT COOPERATIVE BIDDING BY THE GOOSE CREEK
CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT, THE LEE COLLEGE DISTRICT,
AND THE CITY OF BAYTOWN; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE
DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, TEX. REV. CIV. STAT. art. 4413 (32c), also known as
the "Interlocal Cooperation Act" provides a means to improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of local governments by allowing
cooperative purchasing, and
WHEREAS, as defined by this act the Goose Creek Consolidated
Independent School District, the Lee College District, and the
City of Baytown are all local governments that may enter into
such agreements, and
WHEREAS, the purchasing officials of the Goose Creek
Consolidated Independent School District, the Lee College
District, and the City of Baytown have met and agreed to work
together on cooperative purchasing, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the respective purchasing
officials from each entity that cooperative bidding will
economically benefit their respective entities and the community
as a whole, and
WHEREAS, the purchasing officials recommend that each bid
done on a cooperative basis be submitted to the respective
governing bodies for approval prior to award of the contract; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City of Baytown hereby endorses and
approves participation by the City in joint bidding under the
Interlocal Cooperation Act, on such items as may be agreed upon
by the purchasing officials of the Goose Creek Consolidated
Independent School District, the Lee College District, and the
City of Baytown.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 13th day of
November, 1986.
