RESOLUTION NO. 944
A UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, FORMALLY RECOGNIZING AND THANKING
GERALD DICKENS FOR HIS SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY AS
COUNCILMAN FOR DISTRICT NO. 5 FROM MAY, 1983, THROUGH
APRIL, 1986, AND RECOGNIZING SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING ABOUT DURING HIS TENURE
IN OFFICE.

WHEREAS, Gerald Dickens has served the City of Baytown as Councilman for
in District No. 5 for a period of three years, beginning May 26th, 1983, and ending
April 1 Dth, 1986; and
WHEREAS, Gerald Dickens during his tenure in office worked toward the
orderly and timely restoration of the City after Hurricane Alicia; and
WHEREAS, Gerald Dickens during his tenure in office supported participation
by the City of Baytown in the Greater Harris County 911 Emergency Network; and
WHEREAS, Gerald Dickens during his tenure in office supported creation of
the Baytown Industrial Development Corporation in order to promote growth of the
City of Baytown, and served as President of the Baytown Industrial Development
Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Gerald Dickens during his tenure in office supported the esta-
blishment of the Baytown/West Chambers County Economic Development Foundation;
and
WHEREAS, Gerald Dickens during his tenure in office has served both as
alternate representative and as representative to the Board of Directors of the
General Assembly of the Houston-Galveston Area Council; and
WHEREAS, Gerald Dickens during his tenure in office has lead the support
for such social programs such as Bayshore Community Development Inc. and the
Baytown Area Womens' Center, and
WHEREAS, during Gerald Dickens' tenure in office, the City of Baytown
continued to maintain its AA bond rating by Moody's and Standard & Poor's, which
contributed to the economic strength of the City of Baytown; and
WHEREAS. Gerald Dickens during his tenure in office promoted responsible

Section 1: That the City Council on behalf of itself and the citizens of
Baytown, Texas, hereby officially recognizes, thanks and commends Gerald Dickens
for his valuable service to the City as City Councilman from District 5.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by unanimous vote of the members of
City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, on this the 10th day of April, 1986.
