RESOLUTION NO . 853
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
SUPPORTING THE 9-1-1 PROPOSITION BY VOTERS ON NOVEMBER 8,
1983.
WHEREAS, the 9-1-1 system will handle police, fire and medical emergency
calls only; and
WHEREAS, picking up a telephone and dialing 9-1-1 for help will automatically
connect you with the responsible jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, once 9-1-1 is dialed, a tracing feature will facilitate emergency
response to the calls origin; and
WHEREAS, dialing 9-1-1 is easier to remember than the various fire, police
and ambulance telephone numbers of each responsible jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, when seconds count, dialing 9-1-1 may save lives; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown supports proposition
9-1-1 on the ballot November 8, 1983, and urges all citizens of Baytown and Harris
County to vote for proposition 9-1-1.
Section 2: This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City
Council of the City of Baytown, this the 27th day of October, 1983.
