CC Resolution No. 842 1491 RESOLUTION NO . 842 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN SUPPORTING THE NINE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR REVENUE BOND GUARANTEE REFERENDUM ON SEPTEMBER 13, 1983. WHEREAS, The current and potential future highway congestion crisis in Harris County requires immediate planning, action and funding, the latter being not currently available; and, WHEREAS, Harris County Judge Jon Lindsay has prepared a plan with toll highways which will provide an immediate source of funding paid for by those who will use them; and WHEREAS, The toll road option will contribute substantially to a compre- hensive solution to highway congestion; and WHEREAS, The Texas Highway Commission failed to receive additional funding in the most recent legislative session to assist cities and counties with traffic and mobility improvements; and WHEREAS, A County toll road authority would prove more responsive, efficient and, due to a favorable bond rating, financially advantageous; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City of Baytown supports the approval of the Nine Hundred Million Dollar Revenue Bond Guarantee Referendum on September 13, 1983, as a substantial contribution to a comprehensive solution to Highway congestion in Harris County. Section 2: This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
