RESOLUTION NO. 753
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
REQUESTING THAT U. S . POSTAL SERVICE TAKE MEASURES TO
ASSURE PROPER AND EXPEDITIOUS HANDLING OF THE U. S .
MAIL FROM 220 WEST DEFFEE STREET, BAYTOWN, TEXAS .
WHEREAS , the City Council of Baytown has been made
aware that a problem exists with the postal service at 220
W. Defee Street , Baytown , Texas .
WHEREAS, lines of customers have accumulated at the
post office such that customers have had to spend undue time
at the post office ;
WHEREAS, the City is cognizant of the budgetary restraints
placed upon the post office;
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is in a state of constant
growth, and there is a need that the postal service keep
pace with this growth;
WHEREAS , the City is mindful that the Postal Service is
proposing to develop a new post office building in the near
future, NOW THEREFORE :
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS :
Section 1 : That the Postal service take appropriate
measures to assure proper and expeditious handling of the U.
S . Mail from 220 W. Defee , Baytown , Texas .
Section 2 : That the Postal Service take steps to
update their equipment at 220 W. Defee, Baytown, Texas in
order to insure prompt service to customers .
Section 3 : That the Postal Service take action to
provide more personnel to accomodate customers .
Section 4 : That the Postal Service take into account
the growth of the City of Baytown in the planning of the new
Postal Office.

Section 5 : This Resolution shall become effective from
and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown, Texas .
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
the City Council of Baytown , Texas , this 24th day of
November 1980 .
