AMEND THE ELECTION CODE TO ALLOW AN ALTERNATE ELECTION
DATE TO THE FIRST SATURDAY IN APRIL WHEN THAT DATE IS

first Saturday in April the only date between January and
August on which an election can be held; and
WHEREAS, Easter periodically falls on the Sunday after
election day; and
WHEREAS, schools and many businesses make the period
around Easter a holiday, and the Easter weekend is tradi-
tionally a time for people to travel that results in many
people being unable to vote on that weekend; and
WHEREAS , holding an election on the day before Easter
also works a hardship on precinct workers , election officials ,

WHEREAS, it should be the desire and objective of

pation in elections , both by voting and working in them; NOW
THEREFORE,
