RESOLUTION NO. 621
AN UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS , FORMALLY RECOGNIZING AND THANKING E .
C. "JACK" KIMMONS FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY AS
COUNCILMAN FROM DISTRICT NO. FOUR BEGINNING APRIL 12 ,
1976 THROUGH MAY 1, 1978 , AND RECOGNIZING SOME OF THE
ACCOMPLISHMENTS HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING ABOUT
DURING HIS TENURE OF OFFICE.
WHEREAS, Jack Kimmons has served the City of Baytown as
Councilman from District No. Four for a period of two (2)
years ending May 1, 1978; and
WHEREAS , during such time , he was involved with the
authorization of a Small Area Transit Study and the authorization
of an Airport Study to consider the possibilities of providing
quicker, more convenient land and air travel to Baytonians ;
and
WHEREAS , as a member of the Council ' s Traffic Committee ,
Jack Kimmons worked diligently toward standardizing and
improving the traffic control devices and signs throughout
the City; and
WHEREAS , Jack Kimmons, as a member of City Council , was
instrumental in the implementation of drainage, sewer , and
certain bond improvements , the reconstruction of Market
Street Bridge, and the construction of the Bayway Drive
water line; and
WHEREAS , during his tenure of office the senior citizens
of Baytown were granted an increase in tax exemption on
homesteads from $5, 000 to $7, 000, and a transportation
program for senior citizens was implemented; and
WHEREAS, Jack Kimmons , during his tenure of office did
strive for the betterment of this community, and the City of
Baytown has continued to grow, prosper , and operate on a
sound financial basis;

Accordingly, the City Council desires to express its
appreciation to Jack Kimmons for his faithful civic participation
in the government of the City of Baytown ; NOW THEREFORE ,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
That the City Council on behalf of itself and the
citizens of Baytown , hereby officially recognizes, thanks ,
and commends E. C. "Jack" Kimmons for his valuable service
to the City as Councilman from District No. Four.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the unanimous vote of
the members of the City Council of the City of Baytown on
this 1st day of May, 1978.
