CC Resolution No. 596 933 RESOLUTION NO. 596 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND TRAFFIC TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY APPLICATION INSTRUMENTS TO APPLY TO THE OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY, DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR THE EXTENSION AND RENEWAL OF THE SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF BAYTOWN. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown adopted Resolution No. 549 authorizing the Director of Planning and Traffic to execute the necessary application instruments to apply for grant funds to fund a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for the City of Baytown; and WHEREAS , the City Council by Resolution No. 587 authorized the Director of Planning and Traffic to apply to participate in an extension of that program; and WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has been notified that additional federal funds are available for the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program and the City Council of the City of Baytown wishes to apply for additional funds in order to continue the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program to further improve traffic safety in the City of Baytown; and WHEREAS , because the City Council deems that the continuation of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City of Baytown; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1: That the Director of Planning and Traffic and other officers of the City are hereby authorized and directed to execute the necessary application instruments to apply to the office of Traffic Safety for the extension of Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for one (1) month and for a new Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for eleven (11) months through September 30, 1978. 934 Section 2 : Effective Date: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
