RESOLUTION NO. 579
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS , AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION
FOR A CETA GRANT UNDER THE EMERGENCY JOBS AND EMPLOYMENT
ACT.
WHEREAS , the United States Congress has passed the
Emergency Jobs Program Extention Act of 1976, which amended
Title VI of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act
(CETA) of 1973; and
WHEREAS , this act makes funds available to local governments
to pay wages used to employ the low-income , long-term unemployed
in "special projects and activities" meeting Department of
Labor standards; and
WHEREAS , the City of Baytown desires to participate in
this program to provide public service by hiring economically
disadvantaged, unemployed, or underemployed persons; NOW
THEREFORE ,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section 1 : That the City Manager is hereby authorized
to present a grant application for a Title VI , Emergency
Jobs and Employment Act grant pursuant to the Comprehensive
Employment and Training Act of 1973 to the Harris County
Commissioner ' s Court , prime sponsor.
Section 2 : That this resolution shall take effect from
and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
the City Council on this 26th day of May 1977 .
