RESOLUTION NO. 568
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, REQUESTING THAT THE STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE
POLICY ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORTATION
PLANNING IN THE GULF COAST STATE PLANNING REGION AMEND
THE 1977 UNIFIED WORK PROGRAM TO ENABLE THE HOUSTON-
GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL TO PASS THROUGH $20, 000. 00 TO
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN FOR A SMALL AREA TRANSIT STUDY.
WHEREAS , the City finds that a small area transit study
is needed to assess potential transportation needs and
examine the feasibility of a transportation system; and
WHEREAS , the Houston-Galveston Area Council is the
recipient of Urban Mass Transportation Act technical grant
study funds for the Houston urbanized area; and
WHEREAS , the City of Baytown is within the Houston
urbanized area and desires to participate in a unified and
coordinanted urban transportation system; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS , DOES HEREBY REQUEST :
Section 1 : That the Steering Committee of the Policy
Advisory Committee for Multi-Modal Transportation Planning
in the Gulf Coast State Planning Region amend the 1977
Unified Work Program to enable the Houston-Galveston Area
Council to pass through $20, 000. 00 ($16 , 000. 00 UMTA Section
9, $4, 000. 00 local) to the City of Baytown for a small area
transit study.
Section 2 : This resolution shall take effect immediately
upon passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
