RESOLUTION NO. 562
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS , REQUESTING THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS
TO PROPOSE A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT GRANTING A TOTALLY
DISABLED PERSON EXEMPTION FROM TAXATION.
WHEREAS , the property of persons who have a disability
that is not connected to service in the armed forces is not
presently exempt from ad valorem taxation ; and
WHEREAS , all persons with total physical disability,
whether service connected or not , are generally less able to
bear the costs of government ; NOW THEREFORE ,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section 1 : That the City Council of the City of Baytown
requests and encourages the Legislature of the State of
Texas to propose a Constitutional Amendment to exempt property
owned by totally disabled persons from ad valorem taxation
and to present that proposal to the electorate of the State
of Texas.
Section 2 : This resolution shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City
of Baytown, Texas.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
the City Council of the City of Baytown on the 27th day
of January 1977 .
