CC Resolution No. 562 836 RESOLUTION NO. 562 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS , REQUESTING THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS TO PROPOSE A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT GRANTING A TOTALLY DISABLED PERSON EXEMPTION FROM TAXATION. WHEREAS , the property of persons who have a disability that is not connected to service in the armed forces is not presently exempt from ad valorem taxation ; and WHEREAS , all persons with total physical disability, whether service connected or not , are generally less able to bear the costs of government ; NOW THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1 : That the City Council of the City of Baytown requests and encourages the Legislature of the State of Texas to propose a Constitutional Amendment to exempt property owned by totally disabled persons from ad valorem taxation and to present that proposal to the electorate of the State of Texas. Section 2 : This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
