CC Resolution No. 531 773 RESOLUTION NO. 531 A UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS , FORMALLY RECOGNIZING AND THANKING FRED BEDNARSKI FOR HIS THREE YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE AS COUNCILMAN FROM DISTRICT NO. FOUR; AND RECOGNIZING SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING ABOUT DURING HIS TENURE OF OFFICE. WHEREAS , Fred Bednarski served the City of Baytown as City Councilman from District No. Four for a period of three (3) years terminating on April 12 , 1976; and WHEREAS , during such time , the said Fred Bednarski has distinguished himself in the performance of his duties as a Councilman by his untiring efforts on behalf of the City Council , the City Administration , and the Community at Large; and WHEREAS , the said Fred Bednarski has been directly instrumental in the accomplishment by the City of many achievements during such period including the $3 , 000 Home- stead Exemption for citizens over 65, formulation of the Industrial District Policy, expansion of the East District Sewage System, development of the Comprehensive Drainage Plan, Parks expansion, construction of the Municipal Service Center, abatement and removal of junked vehicles, sewer improvement , establishment of a disannexation procedure, the contract with Harris County Bookmobile, creation of a pro- cedure for street dedications , formation of the Baytown Bicentennial Commission and development of Bicentennial Park, increase of Homestead Exemption for citizens over 65 to $4 , 000, the creation of the Traffic Engineering Study, improvement of downtown Texas Avenue, rechannelization of Albert Thomas Circle, the calling of a bond election resulting in the authorization by the electors of the City of the 774 issuance of $11. 5 million dollars of Capital Improvement Bonds for the City, and expansion of Sterling Municipal Library; and WHEREAS , during his term of office he has represented the City in the Council Traffic Committee; and WHEREAS, during his term of office the City continued to grow and prosper and be operated on a sound financial basis; and WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Baytown desires formally to express its appreciation to Councilman Fred Bednarski for his faithful civic participation in the gov- ernment of the City of Baytown; NOW THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1 : That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby officially recognizes , thanks and commends the said, Fred Bednarski for his valuable services to the City as Councilman from District No. Four.
