CC Resolution No. 504 RESOLUTION NO. 504 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS , OFFICIALLY ENDORSING HOUSE BILL 552 AND URGING THE HOUSE NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE TO FAVORABLY REPORT HOUSE BILL NO. 552 TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF TEXAS. WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has been a leader in urging legislation aimed at regulation of withdrawal of underground water with the view of halting subsidence; and WHEREAS, House Bill No. 552 , the "Harris-Galveston Coastal Subsidence District Bill, " aimed at halting subsidence through control of the withdrawal of underground water has been intro- duced in the House of Representatives of the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, a public hearing on the said House Bill No. 552 will be held by the House Natural Resources Committee on Tuesday, March 18 , 1975; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown wishes to convey to the House Natural Resources Committee the urgent ne- cessity for such legislation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown desires to officially express its support for the general principles of House Bill No. 552; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, endorses the general principles of House Bill No. 552 ; and Section 2 : That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas , respectfully urges the House Natural Resources Committee to favorably report House Bill No. 552 to the House of Repre- sentatives of the State of Texas. Section 3 : This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
