CC Resolution No. 468 RESOLUTION NO. 468 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, CONCURRING WITH GOVERNOR BRISCOE'S DESIGNATION OF THE HOUSTON- GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL AS THE METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION FOR THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON-TEXAS CITY-LAMARQUE METROPOLITAN AREA AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN TO FORWARD A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE HOUSTON- GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL. WHEREAS, Section 112 of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973 earmarks 112% of all Federal Highway Funds for strengthening the existing Section 134 highway trans- portation planning process ; and WHEREAS, the various states are charged with designating Metropolitan Planning Organizations for receipt of these funds ; and WHEREAS, Governor Briscoe has designated the Houston-Galveston Area Council as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Houston-Galveston-Texas City- LaMarque Metropolitan Area; and WHEREAS, a condition for designation of such a Metropolitan Planning Or- ganization is the concurrence of local governments with the Governor's designation; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section l : That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas , does concur with Governor Briscoe 's designation of the Houston-Galveston Area Council as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Houston-Galveston-Texas City-LaMarque Metropolitan Area. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, does hereby authorize and direct the City Manager of the City of Baytown to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Executive Director of the Houston-Galveston Area Council . Section 3: That this Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
