A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS ,
DESIGNATING A SPECIFIC LOCATION FOR FUTURE USE AS A MUSEUM SITE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown created a seven (7)
member advisory board to assist and advise Council in ways and means of
providing and developing a museum for the City of Baytown, said board to be
known as the Baytown Museum Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, the Board members have contributed much time and energy to the
collection of many heirlooms , relics , historical items and data to be used in
the development of a museum for the City of Baytown; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown Museum Advisory Board is an arm of the City
and not an autonomous organization, and therefore, does not have the capacity
to hold title to real property; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown does not have the authority
to relinquish dominion and control over the City's real property, but wishes to
designate a site for future use as a museum; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1 : That the City Council of the City of Baytown wishes to designate
the following described location for future use as a museum site:
BEGINNING at a point on the South curb line of Civic Circle, said point being
in line with the Eastmost building line of the City Hall building;
THENCE, in a Northeasterly direction along the South curb line of Civic
Circle, turning to the right at a driveway into a parking area and
following this driveway curb line to a point for corner, said point
being a total distance of 93 feet from the point of beginning;
THENCE, South 55 degrees East, 123 feet to a point for corner;
THENCE, South 35 degrees West, 136 feet to a point for corner;
THENCE, North 55 degrees West, 144 feet to a point for corner on the South
curb line of Civic Circle;
THENCE, in a Northeasterly direction along the South curb line of Civic
Circle to the POINT OF BEGINNING, being a tract of land containing ap-
proximately 0.4 acres .
Section 2: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage
by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of
the City of Baytown, this 24th day of January 1974.
