CC Resolution No. 453 RESOLUTION NO. 453 A UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, FORMALLY RECOGNIZING AND THANKING CHARLEY 0. WALKER FOR HIS TWO YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE AS COUNCILMAN FROM DISTRICT NO. TWO; AND RECOGNIZING SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING ABOUT DURING HIS TENURE OF OFFICE . WHEREAS, Charley 0. Walker served the City of Baytown as City Councilman from District No. Two for a period of two (2) years terminating on May 9, 1973; and WHEREAS, during such time, the said Charley 0. Walker has distinguished himself in the performance of his duties as Councilman by his untiring efforts on behalf of the City Council , the City Administration and the Community at Large; and WHEREAS, the said Charley 0. Walker has been directly instrumental in the ac- complishment by the City of many achievements during such period including the implementation of the 11 .6 Million Dollar Bond Program, which among other things will provide and has provided funds for purchase by the City of major park pro- perties , as well as the development of the building of a new Police and Municipal Courts Building; provided for the improvement of existing water and sewer facilities ; provided for major street improvements ; applied for and received Public Law No. 660 Grant; retirement benefits for City employees increased; health insurance benefits for City employees increased; annexed additional territory; Brownwood Perimeter Road constructed; infiltration crew began work on City sewer lines ; and implementation of a means for conversion from ground water to surface water for the City's water supply; and WHEREAS, during his term of office he has represented the City in the following capacity: 1 . Mobile Home Review Board 2. Baytown Environmental Advisory Board 3. Municipal Court Committee 4. Utility Committee WHEREAS , during his term of office the City continued to grow and prosper and be operated on a sound financial basis ; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown desires formally to express its appreciation to Councilman Charley 0. Walker for his faithful civic participation in the government of the City of Baytown; NOW THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN : Section 1 : THAT the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby officially recognizes, thanks and commends the said, CHARLEY 0. WALKER for his valuable services to the City as Councilman from District No. Two. INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Baytown on this 23rd day of August 1973.
