A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN , TEXAS,
SETTING FORTH DESIRED PRIORITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT OF SIGNALIZATION
AT RAILROAD CROSSINGS OF SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY IN THE
CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN; DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
AND THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST THIS RESOLUTION ; DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO FORWARD A COPY OF SAME TO SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD
COMPANY AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the volume of traffic on certain thoroughfares in the City of
Baytown has increased and will continue to increase in the future due to the
industrial development of the Baytown area; and
WHEREAS, this increased volume of traffic has created and will continue
to create serious traffic hazards at certain railroad crossings in the City of
Baytown; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN :
Section 1 : That, the City Council requests that Southern Pacific Railroad
consider the following list of crossings as the City of Baytown's desired list
of priorities for the improvement of signalization:
1 . Main near Lobit
2. Lee Drive
3. Texas near Commerce
Section 2: That, the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to execute
and the City Clerk to attest this resolution for and on behalf of the City Council
of the City of Baytown.
Section 3: That, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
forward a certified copy of this resolution to Southern Pacific Railroad Company.
Section 4: This resolution shall become effective from and after its
passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas .
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of
the City of Baytown, Texas, on this the 12th day of
July 1973.
