CC Resolution No. 338 RESOLUTION NO. 338 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN COMMEMORATING DAVID EDWARD (EDDIE) CLEVELAND FOR HIS MULTITUDE OF CIVIC SERVICES TO THIS COMMUNITY AND EX- PRESSING DEEP AND SINCERE REGRET FOR HIS PASSING. WHEREAS, in the untimely death of David Edward (Eddie) Cleveland on May 9, 1971, the City of Baytown lost a beloved citizen; and WHEREAS, the City of Baytown suffered a great loss with the death of David Edward (Eddie) Cleveland, who left a memorable record of outstanding public service and citizenship; and WHEREAS , David Edward (Eddie) Cleveland was the last Mayor of the City of Pelly, Texas; and WHEREAS, David Edward (Eddie) Cleveland was the first Mayor of the consolidated City of Baytown, Texas , which office he served with distinction; and WHEREAS, David Edward (Eddie) Cleveland was a busi- nessman of the community and contributed much to the economic growth of the Baytown area; and WHEREAS, the able and dedicated service of this public spirited citizen and his contributions to the civic life of his community earned for him great admiration from his many friends and associates; and WHEREAS , Mr, Cleveland' s fine qualities endeared him to all who were privileged to know him; and WHEREAS , it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Baytown to pay tribute to this worthwhile citizen; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS : THAT the City of Baytown hereby commemorates the late David Edward (Eddie) Cleveland for his many accomplishments and expresses deep and sincere regret for his untimely passing, RESOLVED, FURTHER, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Mr. Cleveland' s family as a token of respect and sympathy, INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of Baytown on this the 13th day of May, 1971.
