CC Resolution No. 337 RESOLUTION NO. 337 A UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN FORMALLY RECOGNIZING AND THANKING DAVID EVANS FOR HIS TWO YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE AS COUNCIL- MAN FROM DISTRICT NO. TWO; AND RECOGNIZING SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING ABOUT DURING HIS TENURE OF OFFICE. WHEREAS, DAVID EVANS served the City of Baytown as City Councilman from District No. Two for a period of two (2) years terminating on May 13 , 1971; and WHEREAS , during such time, the said DAVID EVANS has distinguished himself in the performance of his duties as Councilman by his untiring efforts on behalf of the City Council, the City Administration and the community at large; and WHEREAS, the said DAVID EVANS has been directly in- strumental in the accomplishment by the City of many achievements during such period, to include the acquisition by the City of National Flood Insurance, the acquisition of additional corporate area by annexation; the negotiation of additional industrial district contracts to provide new revenue for the City, the adoption of a comprehensive housing code for the City, the initiation of a program to alleviate the flood hazards of the Brownwood area, the initiation of an $11. 6 million bond program which, among other things , will provide funds for the purchase by the City of major park properties , as well as the development of same; and WHEREAS , during his term of office, the City has con- tinued to grow and prosper and be operated on a sound financial basis; and WHEREAS, the City Council further wishes to officially recognize, commend, and thank the said DAVID EVANS for his val- uable contribution and service as Councilman, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1 : That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby officially recognizes, thanks and commends the said DAVID EVANS for his valuable services to the City as Councilman from District No. Two.
