A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZING
COMMENDING, AND THANKING JOHN HENDERSON FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
AS A SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE MAYOR; FURTHER, OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZING, COMMENDING,
AND THANKING THE HUMBLE OIL AND REFINING COMPANY FOR PLACING THE SAID JOHN
HENDERSON ON LOAN TO THE CITY OF BAYTOWN TO FILL THIS SPECIAL POSITION; AUTHO-
RIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE THIS RESOLUTION AND
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO FORWARD CERTIFIED COPIES OF SAME TO JOHN HENDERSON
AND THE HUMBLE OIL AND REFINING COMPANY.
WHEREAS, John Henderson served the City of Baytown as Special Assistant
to the Mayor for the period beginning June 1 , 1969 through July 15 , 1970 ; and
WHEREAS, during such time, the said John Henderson distinguished him-
self in the performance of his duties and, in particular, in acting as Chairman
of the city's newly created Community Assistance Board; and
WHEREAS, the said John Henderson has been directly instrumental in
guiding the Community Assistance Board in its initial year of activity, and
has coordinated its efforts in assisting the City Council and the City Manager
in determining the service and aid which can be made available to the
disadvantaged people in the Baytown area; and
WHEREAS, the said John Henderson has further helped the City in
establishing better relations with all activities and agencies working in the
area of assistance for the disadvantaged;
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to officially recognize, commend,
and thank the said John Henderson for his valuable contribution to not only
the city government, but the Baytown community as well ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council further wishes to officially recognize,
commend, and thank The Humble Oil And Refining Company for its public spirited
contribution in making the said John Henderson available to serve in such
capacity for the above described period; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby
officially recognizes, thanks and commends the said John Henderson for his
valuable services to the City of Baytown in acting as a Special Assistant
to the Mayor.
Section 2: That the City Council officially recognizes , thanks and
commends the Humble Oil and Refining Company for its public spirited contribution
in making the said John Henderson available to the City of Baytown to act
in this special capacity.
Section 3: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to execute this resolution and the City Manager is directed to forward
certified copies of same to the said John Henderson and the Humble Oil and Refining
Company.
