RESOLUTION NO. 264
A UNANINDLE RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN ENDORSING THE JULY
15, 1969 ELECTION CONCERNING THE ISSUANCE
OF HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL BONDS, AND
ADWCATING THE AFFIRMATIVE PASSAGE OF SUCH
ELECTION ALLOWING THE ISSUANCE OF SUCH BINDS;
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THAT THE MAYOR
AND CITY CLERK EXECUTE THIS RESOLUTION AND
THAT THE CITY MANAGER FORWARD A COPY OF SAME
TO THE HARRIS COUNTY HOOD CONTROL DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the City Council is fully cognizant of the
serious inadequacy of flood control and drainage facilities
in many areas of the Baytown comnudty; and
WHEREAS, there is dire need for the installation of
new and improved flood control and drainage facilities in
this mmnunity, as is evidenced by estimates placing the
cost of providing such improvements in excess of Two
Million ($2,000,000) DOLLARS for the Baytown area alone; and
W[-IEREAS, the existance of such inadequate facilities
causes conditions which are detrimental to the health and
welfare of the citizens of the community; and
WHEREAS, the continued inadequacy of flood control and
drainage facilities is certain to have an adverse affect on
the projected growth and development of the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown
wishes to formally endorse and advocate the affirmative
passage of the election to be held on July 15, 1969 au-
thorizing the Harris County Flood Control District to
issue bonds for the purpose of making the necessary improve-
ments; NC6V, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: The City Council of the City of Baytown
hereby officially endorses the aforesaid election, and ad-
vocates the affirmative passage of such election.
Section 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk are here-
by authorized and directed to execute this Resolution and
the City Manager is to forward a copy of same to the Harris
County Flood Control District.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the unanimous vote of
the City,Council of the City of Baytown on this the
day of 2 1969.
