CC Resolution No. 218 ilk RESOLUTION NO. 218 A UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN OFFICIALLY REQUESTING THAT THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL UNDERTAKE A STUDY OF THE PROBLEM OF DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTE MATERIAL; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO FORWARD A CERTIFIED COPY OF SAME TO THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL. WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is rapidly becoming more and more urbanized; and WHEREAS, the entire Gulf Coast area is experiencing a similar urbanization; and WHEREAS, as areas become more urbanized, land suit- able for use as land fills for solid waste materials becomes scarce; and WHEREAS , all problems incident to the disposal of solid waste materials become more acute with urbanization; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown feels that a study should be made to determine methods of coping with this problem; and WHEREAS, the City Council feels that the Houston- Galveston Area Council is a logical agency to undertake a study of this problem common to the entire area within the jurisdictional limits of the said Houston-Galveston Area Council; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the Houston-Galveston Area Council is hereby officially requested to undertake a study of the impact of urbanization on the problem of disposal of solid waste materials . Section 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute this resolution and the City Manager is directed to forward a certified (MI''' f I r ^ Aq% "1 001, copy of same to the said Houston-Galveston Area Council.
