A UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN OFFICIALLY RECOGNI-
ZING AND COMMENDING THE BAYTOWN AUXILIARY
POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR ITS CONTRIBUTION TO
THE WELL-BEING AND SAFETY OF TI'.E COMMUNITY;
PLEDGING THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO
SAID ORGANIZATION; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECT-
ING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A
COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO FORWARD A CERTIFIED COPY OF
SAME TO THE BAYTOWN AUXILIARY POLICE._DEPART-
MENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has for many years
utilized the services of an auxiliary police force known
as the Baytown Auxiliary Police Department; and
WHEREAS , the said Baytown Auxiliary Police De-
partment has continually functioned as an arm of the regu-
lar Baytown Police Department, and has in such capacity
contributed greatly to the well-being and safety of the
community; and
WHEREAS , the said Baytown Auxiliary Police De-
partment was created by a valid ordinance pursuant to
the City of Baytown°s broad Charter power to pass any or-
dinance expedient for maintaining and promoting the peace
and welfare of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to officially
thank and commend the said Baytown Auxiliary Police De-
partment for its continuing contribution to the community,
and to pledge its support to the said organization; NOW
THEREFORE :
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS :
Section 1: That the Baytown Auxiliary Police De-
partment is hereby officially thanked and commended for its
service to the community as indicated above, and the City
Council hereby pledges its continuing support to the said
organization.

Section 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby authorized and directed to execute this resolution
and the City Manager is directed to present a certified
copy of same to the Baytown Auxiliary Police Department.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative
vote of the members of the City Council of the City of
Baytown on this the llth day of July, 1968.
