AN UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
SING, ENDORSING AND APPROVING THE CREATION AND NAnITEN&ECE OF
A FRESH WATER LAEZ ON THE SOUTHWEST BORDERS OF BAYTOWN; AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE COPIES OF THIS
RESOLUTION AND DIRECTING THE CITY XWAGER TO FORWARD A CERTIFYED COPY
OF SAME TO E. V. "GENE" MULLER, CHAIRMAN OF THE FRESH EATER RECREATION
AND RESOURCES BOARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has a number of streams and bodies of
water in and near its corporate limits; and
WHEREAS, it has located on its Southwest extremities Scott, Crystal
and Burnet Bays and that such Bays have great potential if proper retaining
walls are constructed and maintained around them; and
WHEREAS, such man-made lakes would develop into fresh water and would
be a great asset to the economic and recreational life of Baytown; and
WHEREAS, the Fresh Water Recreation and Resources Board has undertaken
to sponsor said improvements to such Bays; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that said project is very
worthwhile and should be supported by all Baytonians; NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council hereby unanimously resolves that
Scott, Crystal and Burnet Bays should have constructed around' them a permanent
and durable retaining wall so as to convert such bodies into beautiful and con-
stant-level fresh water lanes. That Council takes cognisance of the fact that the
Fresh Water Recreation and Resources Board has undertaken to accomplish this task
and that the City Council hereby formally recommends and approves such project.
Further, that City Council hereby goes on record as agreeing to work diligently
with said Board for thecreation of such lake and agrees that same should be named
Lake Burnet.
Section 2,: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorised and
directed to execute thin resolution and the City Manager is directed to forward
a certified copy ofsame to E. V. "Gone" huller, Chairman of the Fresh Water
Recreation and Resources Board.
