CC Resolution No. 179 RESOLUTION NO. 179 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN AUTHORIZING AND PERMITTING THE HOUSTON NATURAL GAS CORPORATION, A PUBLIC UTILITY, TO USE PLASTIC TUBING UNDERGROUND FOR CONVEYING NATURAL GAS TO OUTDOOR LIGHTS AND GRILLS; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO FORWARD A CERTIFIED COPY OF SAME TO THE OFFICIALS OF SAID HOUSTON NATURAL GAS CORPORATION. WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council that certain types of plastic tubing may be employed usefully and safely for the con- veyance of natural gas to certain fixtures; and WHEREAS, after due study and consideration and upon the recommendation of the City Administration, the City Council is of the opinion that such limited use should be authorized; NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That henceforth the Houston Natural Gas Corporation is hereby authorized to use plastic tubing for conveying natural gas to outdoor lights and grills, such permission is conditioned on such tubing being buried six inches (6") below ground level for its entire length and same may not be used within or under any building or structure. Furthermore, the manufacturers' recommendations for the joining of plastic tubing shall be complied with. In addition, such plastic tubing shall conform to the following: ASTM 02513-66T and the following material specifications: Material ASTM Standard Polyethylene Type III Grade 3 01248-65T Class C (PE-3306) Polyethylene Type II Grade 3 01248-65T Class C (PE-2306) Poly (Vinyl Chloride) Type I 01784-65T Grade 2 (PVE-1220) Poly (Vinyl Chloride) Type II 01784-65T Grade 1 (PVE-2110) Section 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute this resolution and the City Manager is directed to present a certified copy of same to the officials of Houston Natural Gas Corporation.
