A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN CONGRATULATING
THE HUMBLE OIL & REFINING COMPANY ON ITS FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY; FORMALLY
RECOGNIZING A FEW OF SAID COMPANY'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND ITS CONTRIBUTIONS
TO BAYTOWN AND THIS NATION; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO FUR-
NISH CERTIFIED COPIES OF SAME TO THE PROPER OFFICIALS OF SAID HUMBLE OIL
& REFINING COMPANY.
WHEREAS, Humble Oil & Refining Company commenced operating a petroleum
refining business in Baytown in 1917; and
WHEREAS, such Company has grown into a gigantic complex of petroleum and
chemical manufacturing with many related products; and
WHEREAS, such Company made vital contributions to this Nation during war
and peace; and
WHEREAS, such Company has been the economic bulwark of this area for years
and has been a source of employment for many Baytonians; and
WHEREAS, such Company has contributed much to the civic and social life of
this area; NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby formally
congratulates the Humble Oil & Refining Company on its fiftieth anniversary of opera-
tions in this community and the City Council formally recognizes and thanks said
Company for its many accomplishments and contributions to Baytown and this Nation.
Section 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to execute this resolution and the City Manager is directed to present
certified copies of same to the proper officials of Humble Oil & Refining Company.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the members of the
City Council of the City of Baytown on this the 25th day of May, 1967.
