CC Resolution No. 44 RESOLUTION NO. 44 A ,RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN RECOGNIZING THAT THE CITY'S W003TBF:-BROWN- IWOD-LAKE OOD AEEAS HAVE HE. ETOFORE BEEN DAMAGED BY WINDS AND HIGH TIDES AND THAT SAME MAY REOCCUR; RESOLVING THAT A PROPERLY LOCATED AND CONSTRUCTED LEVEE WILL PROTECT SUCH AREAS FROM SUCH NATURAL CATASTROPHES; URGING THAT THE HONORABLE CONGRESSMAN ALBERT THOMAS AND SENATORS RALPH YARBOROUGH AND JOHN TOWER MAKE EVERY EFFORT AT THEIR COOMc]AND IN THE FURTHERANCE OF SUCH PROJECT; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THAT CERTIFIED COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION BE MAILED TO THE AFOREMENTIONED OFFICIALS; AND PRO- VIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF, WHEREAS, the City of Baytown's Wooster-Brownwood-Lakewood areas have heretofore been damaged by winds and high tides; and WHEREAS, it is recognized that such damages may reoccur; and WHEREAS, a properly located and constructed levee will protect such areas from such natural catastrophes , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1 : That the City of Baytown, through its duly elected govern- ing body, unanimously urges that the Honorable Congressman Albert Thomas and Senators Ralph Yarborough and John Tower make every effort at their command in the furtherance of a properly located and constructed levee in the City's Wooster- Brownwood, Lakewood area. Section 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to properly execute this Resolution and that the City Clerk is directed to mail certified copies of same to the aforementioned officials and other inter- ested persons and entities, INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED unanimously by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of Baytown, on this the 14th day of May, 1964.
