A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAYTOWN COMMEMORATING W. CLINTON
"POP" SWAIN FOR HIS MULTITUDE OF CIVIC
SERVICES TO THIS COMMUNITY AND EXPRESSING
DEEP AND SINCERE REGRET FOR HIS PASSING.

WHEREAS, on November 28, 1962, the City of Baytown suffered a great loss
with the death of W. Clinton "Pop" Swain, who left a memorable record of out-
standing public service and citizenship throughout his lifetime; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown wishes to commemorate
and officially acknowledge these many years of public services; and
WHEREAS, a few of the accomplishments of the said W. Clinton "Pop" Swain
are as follows:
1. President of the Baytown Chamber of Commerce
for two terms.
2. Chief Air Raid Warden during World War II.
3. Past President of the Baytown Rotary Club with
more than 30 years membership.
4. Member of the School Board from 1929 to 1934.
5. Member of the Highway 146 Committee and the Baytown
La Porte Tunnel Committee.
6. Assisted the organization of the Junior Chamber of
Commerce.
7. Member of the Selective Service Board for the past
fourteen years.
B. City Councilman from District 4 from 1956 to 1958.
9. Winner of the First Senior Citizen Award from Baytown
Jaycees in 1942.
10. Active worker with the Boy Scouts for more than 25
years.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
That the City Council of the City of Baytown, hereby officially commemo-
rates the late W. Clinton "Pops" Swain for his loyal and devoted services to the
citizens of this area and acknowledges his many accomplishments and expresses deep
and sincere regret for his untimely passing.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded, under the
Seal of the City of Baytown, to Mr. Swain's family as a token of respect and
sympathy.
