2020 09 23 - Termination of Declaration of Local Disaster - Tropical Storm BetaCity of Baytown Termination of Declaration of Local Disaster WHEREAS, on the 20`I' day of September, 2020, the Mayor, pursuant to the Texas Government Code, Chapter 418, of the "Texas Disaster Act," issued an order declaring a local state of disaster for the City of Baytown, Counties of Harris and Chambers, Texas, resulting from the impending arrival of Tropical Storm Beta, which presented within the City of Baytown an imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property and severe economic and social disruption due to high winds and tidal surges and other public calamity resulting therefrom; and WHEREAS, the conditions necessitating the proclamation of a local state of disaster have ceased to exist; and WHEREAS, the Texas Disaster Act provides that a local state of disaster may be terminated by the governing body of the political subdivision or by executive order of the Mayor; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the declaration of a local state of disaster described in the preamble hereinabove is hereby terminated as of 12:00 p.m. on September 23, 2020. Section 2: This declaration shall be filed promptly with the City Clerk, and shall be given prompt and general publicity. Section 3: This order shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance. ORDERED this the 23`d day of September, 2020.
