A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE
HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL IN COORDINATION WITH THE
METROPOLITAN TRANSIT AUTHORITY OF HARRIS COUNTY (METRO) FOR
THE NEW FREEDOM GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED
TWENTY THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SIXTEEN AND 40/100 DOLLARS
($120,816.40) TO BUILD ACCESSIBLE PATHS TO EXISTING BUS SHELTERS
THAT ARE CURRENTLY INACCESSIBLE, INCLUDING CURBCUTS AND
SIDEWALKS TO ASSIST INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES WITH ACCESSING
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES; AUTHORIZING A CASH MATCH IN
THE AMOUNT OF THIRTY THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FOUR AND 10/100
($30,204.10); AUTHORIZING THE REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM
ANY GRANT AWARDS THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING
FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make
application to the Houston-Galveston Area Council in coordination with the Metropolitan Transit
Authority of Harris County (METRO) for the New Freedom Grant Program in the amount of ONE
HUNDRED TWENTY THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SIXTEEN AND 401100 DOLLARS
($120,816.40) to build accessible paths to existing bus shelters that are currently inaccessible, including
curbcuts and sidewalks to assist individuals with disabilities with accessing public transportation services.
Section 2: That for the grant application authorized pursuant to Section I hereof, the City
Council of the City of Baytown commits to provide a cash match in an amount not to exceed THIRTY
THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FOUR AND 10/100($30,204.10).
Section 3: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative for
all purposes under the grant.
Section 4: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept or
affirm any grant awards that may result from the above application.
Section 5: This resolution shall take effect immediately fr and after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Baytown.
